Re-Certification Eligibility

Must meet these requirements to be eligible for a re-certification program via our online re-certification or DVD re-certification:

1. Have a Utah or Colorado Certification
2. Check the certification number, if there is no R- in front of the number, you’re eligible.
3. Your card will be expiring in the next 60-90 days.
4. Your card has not been expired for more than 30 days.
5. You have not already completed a re-certification program within the last 4-years.

NOTE: Do not sign up for the program if you are not eligible. You may have to attend the full day of training to get certified. The fees and course are different than the re-certification program. If you are not eligible, you will be contacted within 1-business day to discuss your options. If you’re not sure, please give our office a call.

Course Fees

The course fees are due at the time of registration and we will not send any materials via email or mail until the fee is paid in full. The course fee is $165.00 for online or DVD/USB Version.

Printed copies of the books are an additional $80.00.

NOTE: If you select the DVD/USB version of the program, and damage or loss is caused to the media device, a $75.00 fee will apply before any certification is issued.

Renewal Programs

Online Re-Certification Program

Upon registering for the online program, you will receive an email with access to the online course within 1-business day. (Note: It will take 1 business day to receive this email, it is not instantly approved – we have to verify that each user is eligible for the program, before access is granted). To complete the program online, you will watch videos and answer test questions. It generally takes between 4-6 hours to complete. The program does allow you to log in and out over a 4-week period. Your progress is automatically saved as you progress through the course. 

DVD or USB Re-Certification Program

Once registration has been completed, USPilotCar will verify that a user is eligible to complete the re-certification. Once the eligibility is confirmed, a packet is mailed out which will include: A DVD or USB which includes the videos for the program, a test answer sheet, and a return envelope. Packages are sent via USPS Priority Mail, and should arrive within 3-4 business days (domestic – note if it’s international the package will take longer to arrive). Watch the videos and use the answer sheet to complete the program. NOTE: The test questions will appear on the DVD or USB Videos, so you must watch the media in order to answer the test questions. Once the test is completed, return the DVD or USB along with your answer sheet with the provided envelope. You will have 4 weeks from the date you receive it to complete the program.

Registration Process and Requirements

  • A Utah or Colorado Certified Pilot/Escort Driver has 30 days from the date of expiration to sign up for a re-certification program. If the expiration is in excess of 30 days, the operator will be required to attend an on-site or online full day classroom training. Note: A certification expires on the date specified on the card, the 30 day grace period is to sign up for the re-certification program, and does NOT extend the certification.

  • USPilotCar currently has your photo on file from the original course. If you are interested in placing a new photo on your card, you must submit this electronically. The requirements are the following: photo from the shoulders up, the photo must be of good quality and no smaller than 2.5″x2.5″ and no larger than 5″x5″, it must be submitted as a jpg. or bmp. image. You will need to email the photo to certification@uspilotcar.com. The photo needs to be a “passport” type photo and will be rejected if it’s not submitted in this format. Note: No selfies with any sort of background that isn’t plain.

  • In order to prevent the fraudulent creation of cards, we will require a signature. You will need to submit this to USPilotCar prior to the Certification being issued. This can be faxed, mailed, or emailed to USPilotCar. The form will be included as part of the course materials and has instructions on how to submit to our office.

  • UDOT and CDOT require that you have a current valid driver’s license. You will need to submit a copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Report). Utah requires this to be for the past 3 years and no older than 30 days. Colorado requires it for the last 5 years, and no older than 30 days. We will not send you a new certification until this is submitted to our office.

  • NOTE: If you are having trouble obtaining this, USPilotCar can pull MVR’s for most states. Click the MVR Release option below, to complete this process and see if we offer your state. We’ve additionally compiled a list of where you can obtain this record yourself from your the state your licensed in. Use the links below to access this information. (Usually less expensive to obtain the record yourself)

  • Proof of Insurance as required by Colorado Rule 500.4.3
